Partnership Development Associate

Major League Ultimate® is looking to hire a Partnership Development Associate to work out of our Philadelphia headquarters. The Partnership Development Associate will work closely with the VP of Partnership Development to develop partnership and sponsorship opportunities for the league and its teams. This position is ideal for someone looking for experience in sports marketing, business development and sales. It is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and rapidly growing business that is driving innovation in the sport of ultimate frisbee.

This is a full time position in Philadelphia, PA.

Overview:

Reporting to the VP of Partnership Development, the Partnership Development Associate will identify partnership/sponsorship opportunities, close deals and maintain relationships with partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify prospective partners through research and outreach
  • Evaluate prospects’ position in the industry and develop sales options fitting their needs
  • Work with creative team to build proposals designed for specific prospects
  • Present opportunities and close sponsorship/partnership deals for the league and its teams
  • Aid in the development of new products and sales opportunities
  • Maintain relationships with existing partners and expand their engagement over time

Requirements:

  • 18 years or older
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sales experience is a plus
  • College degree preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of the sport of ultimate is preferred but not required
  • Must live in the Philadelphia area for consideration

Event Coordinator

Major League Ultimate® is looking to hire Event Coordinators in San Francisco and Vancouver (CAN). This fast-paced and thrilling position puts you right in the center of game day excitement. Event Coordinators work closely with players, coaches, fans and league staff while organizing and running all home games in their city. This position is ideal for an ultimate fan who’s looking to help develop the sport as well as gain firsthand experience in sports management.

This is a seasonal, part time position that does require working weekends and some evenings.

Overview:

As an Event Coordinator you will be expected to be present at every home game ready to run the show. It is the Event Coordinator’s job to ensure the game runs smoothly and that fans stay engaged and entertained. There will be a detailed game day script Event Coordinators are expected to follow and preparations that must be made before each event.

Event Coordinators will be asked to work both independently and collaboratively with other game day staff, coaches, players and fans. A positive attitude and upbeat personality is ideal for this position. Event Coordinators must be at all home games and willing to dedicate 10-15 hours a work week. All Event Coordinators report to Major League Ultimate’s Event Manager and will be trained.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare materials for every home game
  • Event Coordinators must be diligent to ensure all sponsorship signs and field features remain visible during the game
  • Execute game day script and ensure all events and entertainment run smoothly
  • Hiring game day staff and national anthem singer
  • Manage and oversee all volunteers, game day staff and entertainment contractors on game day
  • Organize and prepare all volunteers, staff and contractors for the event in accordance with the game day script

Requirements:

  • 18 years or older
  • Must hold a high school diploma
  • Must have completed 1+ years of college/university
  • Must live in designated city or surrounding metropolitan area
  • Must have reliable method of transportation
  • Experience in event planning and or management
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the sport of ultimate is preferred but not required

Team Statistician

Statisticians are responsible for accurately entering live statistics into the MLU statistical database during home games. Reports are then sent to the league’s Statistical Research & Analysis Coordinator to assure statistics accuracy after games completion. This is a paid position, and use of a personal laptop computer is required.

Overview

  • Keep live statistics during all in-market home games.
  • Accurately record multiple data points.
  • Work in tandem with Statistics Coordinator during lead up to games and at the end of game-day.
  • Hours: Arrive 1 hour before first pull. Commitment runs through end of game.
Qualifications:
  • 18 years or older
  • Must have use of personal laptop
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Must have availability for 100 percent of home games

Referee

Referees are responsible for officiating each game, and each type of referee has a different responsibility. These positions are paid.

Each game requires: one Head Referee, two Field Referees, two Sideline Referees, one Scoreboard Referee and one Backup Referee.

Requirements:

  • Become completely versed in MLU Rulebook
  • Work as part of a officiating team, knowing the roles and responsibilities of each position
  • Enforce infractions and player conduct in a clear and respectful manner to players and coaches
  • Clearly express calls to fans via established hand signals
  • Hours: Arrive one hour before first pull, commitment runs through end of game

  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Must have availability for 100 percent of home games

Team Content Manager

Content Managers are responsible for the production, management and distribution of the team-based digital content.

Requirements:

  • Establish and maintain a weekly content schedule covering written articles, sponsorship activation and social media posts.
  • Hire, manage and serve as editor for writing and social media staff.
  • Work in tandem with league’s Content Manager.
  • Produce written and short form content for distribution on team websites and social media platforms.
  • Maintain posting standards

Qualifications

  • 18 years or older
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Must have availability for 100 percent of home games

Film Staff: Film Staff assists with the filming of all games and team/league events.
 
Game Day Staff: Game Day Staff assists the management staff in running the game day operations. 
 
Graphic Design: Graphic Design Staff is responsible for assisting the design team with the graphics requirements of the MLU website, team websites and other media.
 
Management Staff: Management Staff assists with the day-to-day responsibilities of running and supporting the team/league.
 
Social Media Staff: Social Media Staff is responsible for helping the team’s Content Manager with all team/league social media accounts.
 
Writing Staff: Writing Staff is responsible for writing articles about the teams, as well as previews and recaps of each game, which will then be published on the team/league website.
