April 9

Philadelphia Spinners at New York Rumble

Bell Stadium, Orange, N.J. – 4pm EST – TICKETS – WATCH LIVE

The first pull of the 2016 season pits the visiting Spinners against the new look Rumble.  The 2015 Spinners made their first trip to the MLU Playoffs last year, and return a core of experienced players returning, as well as reigning Eastern Conference Rookie of the Year and North Jersey native Billy Sickles.  The 2016 Rumble underwent a major transition in the offseason, carrying 20 rookies on their roster for this season.  The young team will be lead by returning veteran Jibran Mieser, who’s impressive 2015 was cut short by injury.

Vancouver Nighthawks at San Francisco Dogfish

Yellowjacket Stadium, Berkeley, Calif. – 4pm PST – TICKETS – WATCH LIVE

In the Western Conference, the 2016 MLU Season kicks off with a matchup between two teams with past success that had tough seasons in 2015.  The Vancouver Nighthawks, 2014 Western Conference champs, head into the 2016 season with an almost entirely new look, as new Head Coach Patrick Gatien takes the reigns.  San Francisco, the 2013 Western Conference champs, are another team who underwent a a lot of change this past offseason, bringing in new Head Coach Jason Seidler.  With new head coaches and a lot of new talented players, this game will be fans first look at two teams looking to get back to the MLU Championship.

Seattle Rainmakers at Portland Stags

Milwaukie High School Field, Milwaukie, Ore. – 5pm PST – TICKETS – WATCH LIVE

You can bet the Stags are itching to get on the field this weekend when the Seattle Rainmakers come to town.  The Stags cruised through the regular season in 2015 on fantastic play by Cody Bjorklund, Timmy Perston, Peter Woodside and an incredibly deep roster.  The heavy favorites heading into the playoffs, the Stags were upset by the Rainmakers, who came together impressively as team last season behind players like Danny Trytiak, Khalif El-Salaam and Evan Klein.  With new Head Coaches Kate Kingery and Fiona McKibben, Seattle looks to show that last season was no fluke as they look to avoid the way they started last season, getting routed by Portland, 21-12.

Boston Whitecaps at Washington D.C. Current

Cardinal Stadium, Washington, D.C. – 7PM EST – TICKETS – WATCH LIVE

Saturday evening will see a matchup between the two most recent MLU Champions.  While the reigning champions, the Boston Whitecaps, did see several veterans leave the team this season, Head Coach Sam Rosenthal will still field an impressive lineup when they travel to Washington D.C. this weekend.  Led by Tyler Chan, Christian Foster and Jack Hatchett, the Whitecaps will face off against the 2014 champions, the D.C. Current.  Led by Delrico Johnson, Keven Moldenauer and Erik Salmi, the D.C. Current look to get back to the playoffs after falling short last season.  Both teams look to start their trips back to the Championship with a big win.

April 10

Boston Whitecaps at Philadelphia Spinners

Carey Stadium, Fort Washington, Penn. – 12pm EST – TICKETS – WATCH LIVE

In a rematch of the Eastern Conference Final from 2015, the Whitecaps will stop in Philadelphia to face the Spinners as both teams complete their opening weekend double headers.  Last season, these two teams faced each other four times, with each team winning twice.  The Spinners and new Head Coach Darryl Stanley will be looking to avenge their loss in the playoffs last season, and give their fans a victory in their home opener.  The Whitecaps will continue to try and development their identity after the departure of several veteran players, as they attempt to become the first repeat champions in MLU history.
