Major League Ultimate announced on Monday that D.C. Current Vice President of Operations Mark Evangelisto has been named the league’s director of communications.
Last season, Evangelisto was instrumental in building the outstanding D.C. Current team that went on to win the 2014 MLU Championship.
“I’ve been extremely fortunate to have been a part of the MLU since its inception,” said Evangelisto. “The league’s commitment to our amazing fans extends well beyond the sidelines, and our social media activities are an important aspect of that. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help us raise the bar on the quality and effectiveness of keeping our rapidly growing fan base plugged in to all of the exciting things happening league-wide.”
Evangelisto began his professional ultimate career in 2012 as the head official for the Rhode Island Rampage.
As the MLU was developing in early 2013, Evangelisto was named the general manager of the Philadelphia Spinners. He also helped define all modifications and clarifications to the rule book as a member of the MLU Rules Committee, a position he still holds.
Now the director of communications, Evangelisto will handle all of the league’s email campaigns as well as collaborate with league personnel and general managers to ensure that communication is flowing properly.
“I am so excited for the chance to work closely with Mark Evangelisto,” said MLU Commissioner Jeff Snader. “From his time as a referee in 2012 to his championship season with the D.C. Current, Mark embodies the unwavering commitment to professional ultimate that has helped make our league so successful.”
Deeply committed to the 2014 MLU Champions, Evangelisto will remain the vice president of operations for the D.C. Current as he takes on this league-wide role for the 2015 season.
