Another MLU season is upon us, thus time to begin fantasy trash talking as well as semi-informed Picks and Predictions by the MLU Experts.

Each week, we predict the outcomes of MLU games. We’re not very good at frisbee, but we’ve got that fire for competition. Let us indulge ourselves and pretend this matters!

Greg Fallon | MLU Assistant Production Manager

Boston Whitecaps vs. Philadelphia Spinners | Saturday, April 18, 20156:30 p.m. ET
Score: 19-17, Philadelphia Spinners

Boston Whitecaps vs. D.C. Current | Sunday, April 19, 20151:00 p.m. ET
Score: 24-22, D.C. Current

“Without Trytiak and El-Salaam I don’t see the Rainmakers having enough firepower to take down a confident Stags squad in their home opener.”

Prediction record: 0-0

Seattle Rainmakers vs. Portland Stags | Saturday, April 18, 20152:00 p.m. PT
Score: 19-17, Seattle Rainmakers

Boston Whitecaps vs. Philadelphia Spinners | Saturday, April 18, 20156:30 p.m. ET
Score: 20-19, Philadelphia Spinners

Boston Whitecaps vs. D.C. Current | Sunday, April 19, 20151:00 p.m. ET
Score: 22-17, D.C. Current

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Sunday, April 19, 20152:00 p.m. PT
Score: 18-16, San Francisco Dogfish

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Dom Gibson (Current)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Evan Boucher (Dogfish)

“Not only is Boston missing key pieces on their D-line in Rusty Ingold-Smith, Jon Hirschberger and Lee Farnsworth but the Whitecaps have to make this opening weekend trip without Josh Markette and Piers MacNaughton. If there’s anyone in the league that can will their team to victory, it’s Jeff Graham. But against a young and hungry Spinners team I just can’t see Boston coming away with this one.”

Tim Brubaker | MLU Statistician

Prediction record: 0-0

Seattle Rainmakers vs. Portland Stags | Saturday, April 18, 20152:00 p.m. PT
Score: 19-18, Portland Stags

Boston Whitecaps vs. Philadelphia Spinners | Saturday, April 18, 20156:30 p.m. ET
Score: 26-24, Philadelphia Spinners

Boston Whitecaps vs. D.C. Current | Sunday, April 19, 20151:00 p.m. ET
Score: 21-18, D.C. Current

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Sunday, April 19, 20152:00 p.m. PT
Score: 17-15, San Francisco Dogfish

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jeff Graham (Current)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Evan Boucher (Dogfish)

“The Stags will beat the Rainmakers, but it’ll be close as always. In such a close matchup, injuries can make all the difference. The Rainmakers will be down Trytiak, Sliva and El-Salaam. Meanwhile the Stags might only be down Allison-Hall. While he’s a big player to lose, the Stags will have Perston active. He scored 11 goals on opening weekend last season, thus the Rainmakers will have to find a way to slow him down. To me, this only means more room for the likes of Friedman and Hayes.”

Seattle Rainmakers vs. Portland Stags | Saturday, April 18, 20152:00 p.m. PT
Score: 23-19, Portland

Boston Whitecaps vs. Philadelphia Spinners | Saturday, April 18, 20156:30 p.m. ET
Score: 21-16, Philadelphia

Boston Whitecaps vs. D.C. Current | Sunday, April 19, 20151:00 p.m. ET
Score: 26-20, D.C.

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Sunday, April 19, 20152:00 p.m. PT
Score: 20-18, Vancouver

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jeff Graham (Boston)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Morgan Hibbert (Vancouver)

“Veteran deep threats Timmy Perston and Cody Bjorklund are going to welcome Cam Bailey and Evan Klein to the MLU in style. Welcome to the big leagues boys! Topher Davis and Riley Meinershagen keep things tight on defense without having to deal with Danny Trytiak and Khalif El-Salaam (both inactive). Mark Burton and a strong core of young Rainmakers keep it close, but Portland starts the season with a victory at home. Stags by 4.”

Western Conference Star of the Week: Morgan Hibbert (Vancouver)

“Clam Chowder versus Half-smokes? Is this even a question? Why was that a question? Why are these all questions? Is it early enough to have any answers? Is Scotland’s non-independence related to the extinction of the Unicorn or verse-vica? Is 55 percent even enough to make a decision on? If I choose correctly on 55 percent of my picks, will I be winning or losing? Did you just lose the game? How many roads must a man walk down? Would you like to play a game of questions? Wizards over Raptors is my pick.”

Score: 22-17, Portland

Boston Whitecaps vs. Philadelphia Spinners | Saturday, April 18, 2015 – 6:30 p.m. ET

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Sunday, April 19, 2015 – 2:00 p.m. PT
Score: 19-17, Vancouver

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Seth Wiggins (D.C.)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Morgan Hibbert (Vancouver)

“Both teams are going to be bringing a lot of new talent to the field this weekend. I see defense playing a huge role in this matchup as team chemistry breaks down and hucks start flying. Morgan Hibbert is going to be a big part of picking off these throws and the Nighthawks are going to bring home the W. ”

Boston Whitecaps vs. Philadelphia Spinners | Saturday, April 18, 20156:30 p.m. ET

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Sunday, April 19, 20152:00 p.m. PT
Score: 18-16, San Francisco

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Markham Shofner (Boston)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Evan Boucher (Vancouver)

“Something about San Francisco and their endless positivity even during a 2-8 season last year makes me think that they’ll turn things around this year. They’ll start by upsetting the Western Conference Champions at Berkeley High School, their new home stadium. Whoever wins the game should blast this very important song afterwards.”
