The 2016 MLU Season is in wrapping up, thus it’s time to you all to fantasy trash talking as semi-informed Picks and Predictions by the MLU “Experts”. Each week, we predict the outcomes of MLU games. We’re not very good at frisbee, but we’ve got that fire for competition. Let us indulge ourselves and pretend this matters!

Tim “Maps” Brubaker | MLU Stastistics and Development Consultant

Prediction record: 24 – 8

Washington D.C. Current  vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, June 11, 2016, 7:30 p.m. ET
Score: 21-15, Boston

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Seattle Rainmakers | Saturday, June 11, 2016, 6:30 p.m. PT
Score: 24-18, Seattle

Washington D.C. Current vs. Philadelphia Spinners | Sunday, June 12, 2016, 4:00 p.m. ET
Score: 22-16, Philadelphia

San Francisco Dogfish  vs. Portland Stags | Sunday, June 12, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 25-16, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Delrico Johnson (Washington DC)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Cody Bjorklund (Portland)

“Boston’s loss to Philly last week made homefield advantage much tougher to secure. That doesn’t mean the Whitecaps will end the season easily as they’d love to put all the pressure on the Spinners to perform and continue to win. That motivation, Boston being at home, and DC possibly missing all of Blake, Norrbom, and Freund points to what should be a strong win for the home team.”

“This is the Spinners chance to clinch home field advantage in the playoffs in franchise history. Last season it was a week 9 collapse that kept Philly from playing in front of their home crowd. They’ll avoid the let down this year. Hello home field.”

Prediction record: 18-10

Washington D.C. Current  vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, June 11, 2016, 7:30 p.m. ET
Score: 20-17, Boston

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Seattle Rainmakers | Saturday, June 11, 2016, 6:30 p.m. PT

San Francisco Dogfish  vs. Portland Stags | Sunday, June 12, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 24-16, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Kyle Khalifa (Washington D.C.)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Brad Houser (Seattle)

“I really want San Francisco to take one of these games this weekend.  I think I have incorrectly picked them to win more than any team this season, and it’s because I see the talent on their roster.  They are a good team, regardless of record, with one of the most dynamic players in the league in Saunkeah.  I like what Coach Seidler has done in his first season with the team.  That said, Seattle is on fire right now and unless they’ve already started looking towards another WCF upset, this doesn’t feel like a trap game. Seattle by 4”

Western Conference Star of the Week: Taylor Cascino (San Francisco)

“Yo, D.C. can win this game. There is no team more difficult to prepare for than one with nothing to lose. The D.C. Current are absolutely that team at this point and would like nothing better than to channel the spirit of Chuck Brown and get to Playing [Their] Game, Baby louder than the Spinners play The Games People Play up in Philly. The Spinners, while they still have the task of securing homefield advantage ahead, might forget the threat the Current present.”

“I’m looking forward to see Khalif El-Salaam back out on the field this weekend. In the three games he’s played so far this season he has put together an impressive record of 8 goals, 17 assists and 2 blocks. Most people would be happy to have that for a season. I see no reason for the Rainmakers not to run the table this game, but with El-Salaam and Gabe Saunkeah on the field it should be a fun one to watch.”

“At this point all Boston is playing for is to wrest home field advantage from Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference Championship. That advantage could be the difference between a trip to the MLU title game and a trip to the offseason. I can’t imagine that they are going to let this game against DC slip away. Whitecaps win.”
