The 2016 MLU Season is in wrapping up, thus it’s time one final week of fantasy trash talking as semi-informed Picks and Predictions by the MLU “Experts”. Each week, we’ve predicted the outcomes of MLU games. We’re not very good at frisbee, but we’ve got that fire for competition. Let us indulge ourselves and pretend this matters!

Tim “Maps” Brubaker | MLU Stastistics and Development Consultant

Prediction record: 27 – 8

New York Rumble  vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 22-13, Boston

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 15-13, Vancouver

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Washington D.C. Current | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 7:00 p.m. ET
Score: 18-17, Philadelphia

Seattle Rainmakers  vs. Portland Stags | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. PT
Score: 22-19, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Leon Chou (Philadelphia)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Taylor Nadon (Vancouver)

“The first thing I tend to look at in a matchup is who’s missing. For Boston names like Foster, Inselmann, Hirschberger, Luo, and more all missing is concerning. Luckily Boston has two big advantages on their side. One being the players New York is missing, most notably Compton, Hunziker, and Canetti. Two is that Boston is home, and that has pretty much been a guaranteed win over the past 4 seasons. New York exploited some cracks in Boston’s game last weekend but wasn’t able to finish in time and Boston recomposed itself. Trying to repeat their effort, on the road, on a team that should now be on guard is just too much to ask for New York this season.”

“The Spinners have absolutely zero motivation to play in this game. Charlie McCutchen and Matt Esser are both going to be MIA… Yet I still don’t want to pick against them.”

Prediction record: 25-10

New York Rumble  vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 23-17, Boston

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 20-15, San Francisco

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Washington D.C. Current | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 7:00 p.m. ET
Score: 21-18, Philadelphia

Seattle Rainmakers  vs. Portland Stags | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. PT
Score: 24-21, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Michael Panna (Philadelphia)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Cody Bjorklund (Portland)

“San Francisco played two games last weekend on the road against the west’s two playoff teams.  They hung with both of them, and barring and EPIC third quarter meltdown against Seattle, could have earned their second victory of the year.  I think they are the better team and will prove that by winning their season series with Vancouver.  San Fran by 4-5.”

Prediction record: 29-6

New York Rumble  vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 23-16, Boston

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 19-14 San Francisco

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Washington D.C. Current | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 7:00 p.m. ET
Score: 22-20 Washington D.C.

Seattle Rainmakers  vs. Portland Stags | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. PT
Score: 28-25 Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Zach Norrbom (D.C.)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Brad Houser (Seattle)

“Free-roaming Stags, free-flowing Raindrops, Bjorklund letting it fly for a season record in points, Houser and Perston gunning for the goals title… I hope this one gets out of hand in the best way as the season comes to a close. With a rematch coming next week in the playoffs, I don’t expect to see full defensive adjustments and instead expect both offenses to rule to day with a couple plays going Portland’s way. That said, I waffled on this pick over and over again.”

Prediction record: 28-7

New York Rumble  vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 22-16, Boston

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 21-16, San Francisco

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Washington D.C. Current | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 7:00 p.m. ET
Score: 21-17, Philadelphia

Seattle Rainmakers vs. Portland Stags | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. PT
Score: 22-17, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Billy Sickles (Philadelphia)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Cody Bjorklund (Portland)

“This is the most important matchup out west this weekend as it is the only game that can change the standings. With a win the Dogfish will climb out of the basement for the first time in two season and will give the Nighthawks their lowest end of season ranking in team history. It may not look like much to fight for, but I’m sure both these teams are going to fight tooth and nail to keep out of 4th place.”

Prediction record: 29-6

New York Rumble  vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 22-16, Boston

Vancouver Nighthawks vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 20-19, San Francisco

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Washington D.C. Current | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 7:00 p.m. ET
Score: 19-18, Philadelphia

Seattle Rainmakers  vs. Portland Stags | Saturday, June 18, 2016, 5:00 p.m. PT
Score: 22-20, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Lloyd Blake (Washington D.C.)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Gabe Saunkeah (San Francisco)

“The only thing on the line between Vancouver and San Francisco is pride. Neither team will play again this season as both will miss the playoffs for the second straight year. Vancouver has grown throughout the season and San Francisco didn’t live up to expectations. However, I think the Dogfish finish on a high note and painfully remind us all why we thought they could have contended for a playoff spot this year.”

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Tannor Johnson (Boston)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Tremont Miller (Seattle)

“Philadelphia has the Conference Championships to keep in mind when playing this weekend. Having their roster at full strength for Boston is their top priority, which opens the door for D.C. to come away with a win. However, until I see otherwise, I can’t pick against the Spinners. Unless they’re in Boston.”

Western Conference Star of the Week: Brad Houser (Seattle)

“The final game between Seattle and Portland doesn’t have too much intrigue. Playoff position for the Western Conference final is already set with the Stags once again hosting the Rainmakers in two weeks. So in the meantime, let’s have a little fun. Been working on that lefty scoober? Now is the time to break it out! Exotic and highly questionable goalty throws? I say heck yes! Let’s chuck it around the pitch and give the fans a good show! (Flips coin) Stags win! Stags win!”
