Another MLU season is upon us, thus time to begin fantasy trash talking as well as semi-informed Picks and Predictions by the MLU Experts.

Each week, we predict the outcomes of MLU games. We’re not very good at frisbee, but we’ve got that fire for competition. Let us indulge ourselves and pretend this matters!

Greg Fallon | MLU Assistant Production Manager

Prediction record: 11-0

D.C. Current vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 9, 2015, 7:30 p.m. ET
Score: 20-18, D.C.

D.C. Current vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 10, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 19-15, D.C.

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Portland Stags | Sunday, May 10, 2015 1:00 p.m. PT
Score: 23-18, San Francisco

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Alan Kolick (D.C.)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Peter Woodside (Portland)

“It’s a long ride up to Boston, but I think D.C. is the better team and I think D.C. wins a tight battle”

Luke Ryan | MLU Head Statistician

Prediction record: 7-4

D.C. Current vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 9, 2015, 7:30 p.m. ET
Score: 17-16, D.C.

D.C. Current vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 10, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 20-19, New York

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Portland Stags | Sunday, May 10, 2015 1:00 p.m. PT
Score: 22-18, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Dominique Gibson (D.C.)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Raphy Hayes (Portland)

“I really like what the Dogfish have done thus far this year but the Stags defensive unit is on an absolute tear and I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of the weekend the Stags have more breaks than holds.”

Tim Brubaker | MLU Statistician

Prediction record: 10-1

D.C. Current vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 9, 2015, 7:30 p.m. ET
Score: 21-19, D.C.

D.C. Current vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 10, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 19-18, D.C.

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Portland Stags | Sunday, May 10, 2015 1:00 p.m. PT
Score: 22-20, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Dominique Gibson (D.C.)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Cody Bjorklund (Portland)

“Player by player D.C. wins here, but nothing will be easy about it. New York played well last week until they got tired, and now they face a team that will be road-weary and playing their second game in as many days. This may be as good a chance as the Rumble get to beat the Current this season. Expect New York’s defense to keep them close with some big plays but the offensive production of the Current will outpace the Rumble’s in the end.”

Tom Levy | MLU Digital Media Manager

Prediction record: 8-3

D.C. Current vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 9, 2015, 7:30 p.m. ET
Score: 22-20, D.C.

D.C. Current vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 10, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 20-18, New York

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Portland Stags | Sunday, May 10, 2015 1:00 p.m. PT
Score: 20-15, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jibran Mieser (New York)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Tyler Cable (Portland)

“Yeah. I’m gonna do it. I think the time has come for the champs to fall. It’s time for New York to finally get that elusive first win for their home opener. Two long bus trips and back to back games bite the champs, and Jibran Mieser and John Wodatch show they are ready to join the elite of the MLU. New York wins a close one to make the East a lot more interesting.”

Prediction record: 11-0

D.C. Current vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 9, 2015, 7:30 p.m. ET
Score: 23-21, D.C.

D.C. Current vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 10, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 24-18, D.C.

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Portland Stags | Sunday, May 10, 2015 1:00 p.m. PT
Score: 22-16, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Peter Prial (D.C.)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Dan Suppnick (Portland)

“D.C. visits Boston. The site of many meaningful games in the league’s young history. Like that time the bus driver was more than the Current could cope with. Like that time Boston lost at home. Or that time that I was dragooned into scorekeeping (Which is closer than I’d ever like to be to being an official). Or like that time Boston delayed the start of the game because of “traffic”. Or maybe it was to disrupt the Current? But doesn’t the current affect the waves? Perhaps it was all just prelude to weakening of the tide. ‘Tide goes in, tide goes out. You can’t explain that.'”

William Curb | MLU Director of West Coast Digital Media

Score: 20-18, D.C.

D.C. Current vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 10, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 21-17, D.C.

Score: 21-16, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jibran Mieser (New York)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Cody Bjorklund (Portland)

“The Stags have already proved they can take on the Dogfish on the road and for their second home game the Stags are working on cleaning up their offense. Once the Stags get ahead they aren’t going to let the Dogfish back in this game.”

Paul Des Marais | MLU Director of Content

Prediction record: 11-0

D.C. Current vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 9, 2015, 7:30 p.m. ET
Score: 18-17, D.C.

D.C. Current vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 10, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 20-19, D.C.

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Portland Stags | Sunday, May 10, 2015 1:00 p.m. PT
Score: 23-20, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: John Wodatch (New York)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Peter Woodside (Portland)

“San Francisco has the potential to be a better team than last year, but I don’t think any team in the Western Conference can beat Portland at home right now. Head to the Stags site later today to hear a team playlist of songs they’ll be listening to before the game. My personal favorite on the list will get you going for any occasion. I also like to imagine the Stags dancing around the locker room to Chaka Khan.”
