The 2016 MLU Season is in full swing, thus it’s time to you all to fantasy trash talking  as semi-informed Picks and Predictions by the MLU “Experts”. Each week, we predict the outcomes of MLU games. We’re not very good at frisbee, but we’ve got that fire for competition. Let us indulge ourselves and pretend this matters!

Tim “Maps” Brubaker | MLU Stastistics and Development Consultant

Prediction record: 17 – 3

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 19-17, Philadelphia

New York Rumble vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 17-13, San Francisco

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Matt Glazer (Philadelphia)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Daniel Naruo (San Francisco)

“If a team in the East is going to beat the Spinners it’s going to be the Whitecaps. Can the Whitecaps win multiple times and steal the East again? Maybe! But this weekend, withe the Whitecaps down some key pieces, the Spinners will widen their lead to 2.5 games. At that point the magic number would be 2 for the Spinners. However, that’s not to say the Whitecaps couldn’t end the season 2 games ahead.”

Luke Ryan | Statistical Research and Analysis Coordinator/Master of the Universe

Prediction record: 17-3

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 19-18, Boston

New York Rumble vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 24-22, San Francisco

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jay Clark (Whitecaps)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Nate Young (Dogfish)

“The Dogfish’s are 1-2 but both of those losses have come against the Stags. I expect a high scoring affair but the Rumble to fall short. I would really like to pick New York in this game. But I can’t”

Prediction record: 17-3

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 26-25, Boston

New York Rumble vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 21-17, San Francisco

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jared Inselmann (Boston)
Western Conference Star of the Week: James Sheridan (San Francisco)

“New York versus San Francisco? Are you kidding me? New York is everything.  New York is so powerful that it commandeered its own state’s name. When you hear ‘New York’ even folks from upstate concede your meaning to be ‘New York City’. As for San Francisco? I mean, you’re alright, but you’re just a subset of ‘The Bay Area’. New York exists unto itself and even its boroughs and its “New York values” are world-famous. I pick NY all day everyday… Oh. We talkin’ ’bout frisbee? Not a place, not a place… we talkin’ ’bout frisbee. Well then. San Francisco wins the matchup.”

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 26-21, Philadelphia

New York Rumble vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 16-12, San Francisco

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Billy Sickles (Philadelphia)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Gabe Saunkeah (San Francisco)

“I had envisioned this game being a lot closer earlier this week, but with all of Boston’s inactives, including Christian Foster I have a hard time seeing the Whitecap’s defense being able to hold back that steady Philly offense.”

Geoff Poster | Warden of the East

Prediction record: 17-3

Philadelphia Spinners vs. Boston Whitecaps | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 5:00 p.m. ET
Score: 20-18, Philadelphia

New York Rumble vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Saturday, May 14, 2016, 3:00 p.m. PT
Score: 22-15, San Francisco

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Billy Sickles (Philadelphia)
Western Conference Star of the Week: James Sheridan (San Francisco)

“Exciting as it is to have the first ever inter-conference regular season game this weekend, it will probably be a mostly one sided game.No Western team has come to the East and won in the finals, so why should an Eastern team be able to go out West and win? In addition to that is New York’s injury report. Not only do they have to make the long trip west, but they’re doing it with a short roster.

“The Spinners went to Boston and won for the first time in 2015. With Boston missing much of their core for various reasons (including Christian Foster and Tyler Chan), the Spinners will do it again and improve to 6-0.”
