Another MLU season is upon us, thus time to begin fantasy trash talking as well as semi-informed Picks and Predictions by the MLU Experts.

Each week, we predict the outcomes of MLU games. We’re not very good at frisbee, but we’ve got that fire for competition. Let us indulge ourselves and pretend this matters!

Greg Fallon | MLU Assistant Production Manager

Prediction record: 13-5

Philadelphia Spinners vs. D.C. Current | Saturday, May 23, 2015, 6:00 p.m. ET
Score: 23-22, Philadelphia

Seattle Rainmakers vs. Vancouver Nighthawks | Saturday, May 23, 2015, 6:00 p.m. PT
Score: 17-15, Vancouver

Boston Whitecaps vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 24, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 17-14, Boston

Portland Stags vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Sunday, May 24, 2015 2:00 p.m. PT
Score: 21-16, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jake Rainwater (Philadelphia)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Timmy Perston (Portland)

“Philly is playing really well right now and D.C. has struggled with consistency and will be without Alan Kolick. I think the Spinners take full control of the East with a statement win in the District.”

Luke Ryan | MLU Head Statistician

Prediction record: 12-6

Philadelphia Spinners vs. D.C. Current | Saturday, May 23, 2015, 6:00 p.m. ET
Score: 17-16, Philadelphia

Seattle Rainmakers vs. Vancouver Nighthawks | Saturday, May 23, 2015, 6:00 p.m. PT
Score: 19-17, Seattle

Boston Whitecaps vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 24, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 24-23, New York

Portland Stags vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Sunday, May 24, 2015 2:00 p.m. PT
Score: 20-17, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Gabe Colton (Philadelphia)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Dan Suppnick (Portland)

“This game is essentially a de facto “Who’s playing Portland in the playoffs” game. Winner has the inside track for second place and Seattle’s O-line is starting to look scary good. This could be the week that Vancouver puts it all together, but my bet’s still on the Rainmakers.”

Tim Brubaker | MLU Statistician

Prediction record: 13-5

Philadelphia Spinners vs. D.C. Current | Saturday, May 23, 2015, 6:00 p.m. ET
Score: 23-22, Philadelphia

Seattle Rainmakers vs. Vancouver Nighthawks | Saturday, May 23, 2015, 6:00 p.m. PT
Score: 17-16, Vancouver

Boston Whitecaps vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 24, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 20-19, New York

Portland Stags vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Sunday, May 24, 2015 2:00 p.m. PT
Score: 24-18, Stags

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Billy Sickles (Philadelphia)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Peter Woodside (Portland)

“Navigating a Boston injury report is a chore in and of itself. However, 355 points of play are listed as out, inactive or questionable. These aren’t just bodies on the field missing but the likes of Hatchett, Banerji and Doherty. On the New York side only 186 points of work are likely to be missed although they also could be down two key defenders in Mieser and Alorro. In a game where offense should have it’s way, unforced errors could spell the end for either of these teams. With the home crowd behind them, New York will commit less of these errors and come out with the win.”

Tom Levy | MLU Digital Media Manager

Prediction record: 13-5

Philadelphia Spinners vs. D.C. Current | Saturday, May 23, 2015, 6:00 p.m. ET
Score: 22-20, Philadelphia

Seattle Rainmakers vs. Vancouver Nighthawks | Saturday, May 23, 2015, 6:00 p.m. PT
Score: 18-15, Vancouver

Boston Whitecaps vs. New York Rumble | Sunday, May 24, 2015, 2:00 p.m. ET
Score: 19-17, New York

Portland Stags vs. San Francisco Dogfish | Sunday, May 24, 2015 2:00 p.m. PT
Score: 20-17, Portland

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jeff Graham (Boston)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Timmy Perston (Portland)

“The Nighthawks are in dangerous territory and this game against the Rainmakers is as close to a ‘must-win’ as you can get. With Portland running away with the conference, the other Western teams can’t afford to be giving home games away. Brendan Wong and Morgan Hibbert need to rally the troops and defend their home turf. They are up for the challenge. Nighthawks win by three.”

“Didn’t we already see this game? Didn’t I already type about these teams somewhere? Am I in the Matrix? Which pill was it Morpheus handed me? Was he using Sicilian Reasoning? Did he think I was? I’ve spent a lifetime building up an immunity to alternate realities. Unless the Dogfish turn to salmon, they’ve got no chance to summit Stag Mountain. (The denizens thereof have formed a nation. “Even with their win over Boston last weekend the Spinners have yet to prove themselves to be the team to beat in the East. If Philadelphia can take down the Current at the Dojo there will be no doubt that we’ll be seeing the Spinners in the Eastern Conference Finals.”

“They’re gonna go hard. They’re gonna tuck it into the goal. The Dogfish will put up a good fight, but the Stags are too much to handle. Suppnick and his D-line will be too much to get around. -Taylor Berman, guest writer, friend, completely unaware of ultimate frisbee but probably correct.”
