Score: 23-21, Portland

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Vancouver Nighthawks | Saturday, May 21, 2016, 6:00 p.m. PT

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Seattle Rainmakers | Sunday, May 22, 2016, 1:00 p.m. PT
Score: 21-17, Seattle

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Cody Bjorklund (Portland)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Gabe Saunkeah (San Francisco)

“The Dogfish had a tough weekend last week, but have to deal with a doubleheader this weekend. They’re going to need to beat Seattle to make a run for the playoffs, but if they don’t beat Vancouver it won’t matter anyway. The motivation is there against a team they should beat. “

Score: 22-21, Portland

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Vancouver Nighthawks | Saturday, May 21, 2016, 6:00 p.m. PT

Score: 20-17, Washington D.C.

San Francisco Dogfish vs. Seattle Rainmakers | Sunday, May 22, 2016, 1:00 p.m. PT
Score: 26-20, Seattle

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jay Clark (Boston)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Sascha Lo (Vancouver)

“In what is possibly a preview of the MLU Championship later on this summer, the Stags travel across the country to try and become the first western conference team to beat their eastern counterparts. The Stags have literally been bulldozing the western conference. They’re on pace to break several single season team records. Including total number of breaks, total number of goals, offensive scoring efficiency, defensive scoring efficiency, total scoring efficiency, the list goes on. Standing in their way is Boston, a team that has only lost 2 home games in MLU history. Logic says don’t pick against the Whitecaps at home. I’m picking against the Whitecaps at home.”

“A matchup between the two winningest teams in MLU History? Boston has been very good this season, losing just once to the Spinners, but Portland has been dominant.  This is gonna be a close one folks, but I think it’s time for a Western Conference team to defeat a Eastern Conference opponent.  Portland.”

“Portland versus Boston is a major NW port city versus a major NE port city. Which means anything could be imported for this battle of NXs of frisbee talent. These two teams are full of two-way/five-tool players and stars. They are the top regular season teams in MLU over the last two and a half seasons. We might not overhype this game, but it won’t be for lack of trying. Foster, Chan, Inselmann and the Whitecaps play host to Perston, Bjorklund, Hayes and the rest of the Stags this Saturday at 5PM on MLULive!‎”

“The Dogfish haven’t won an away game since June of 2013. That’s a long streak of losing on the road. This isn’t going to be an easy weekend for the Dogfish, but the Nighthawks haven’t shown a complete game yet this season and the Dogfish should be able to take home at least one W this weekend.”

Eastern Conference Star of the Week: Jay Clark (Boston)
Western Conference Star of the Week: Erik Hunter (Vancouver)

“Seattle has to be excited about playing somebody other than Vancouver right? This might not reach the level of excitement that Boston/Portland is getting, but this is a big game. San Francisco was thought to be a playoff contender this season, but has only managed one win. If the Dogfish are going to get back to the post season it starts with winning this weekend’s game over the Rainmakers. However, Seattle’s offense will have something to say about that, with their recent great play, scoring at least 19 goals in their last 4 games. On the second day of a back to back weekend, San Francisco’s umbrellas won’t keep them dry.”

“The Rumble should carry some momentum back to the East Coast after their statement win over the Dogfish last week. Marques Brownlee continues to be a dominant force on defense, while Sean Mott continues to give the Rumble offense a downfield threat. With both sides set to have mostly full rosters this week, it’ll be a real battle.”

Western Conference Star of the Week: Raphy Hayes (Portland)

“It would be great for the Dogfish and for the Western Conference if San Francisco could steal a win in Seattle on the back of a back-to-back, and bring some excitement into the race for #2. But unfortunately I haven’t seen anything from the San Francisco side to make me think this could happen. Rainmakers win.”
