BERKELEY, CA – Here is a quick recap of the Portland Stags win over the San Francisco Dogfish at Yellowjacket Stadium on Sunday.

How it Happened: The Dogfish trailed the Stags by one or two points until halfway through the third quarter when the Stags pulled away to a five-point lead. The Dogfish answered with a four-point run, entering the fourth quarter down by only one. The Stags pulled ahead again early in the final quarter and the Dogfish traded points but were unable to recover, leaving the Stags with the 15-12 win.

Turning Point: With 4:13 remaining in the fourth quarter the Stags recovered from a collision at the end zone to score, then worked the disc following a Dogfish turnover to expand their lead to four points.

Player of the Game: Stags defensive cutter Peter Woodside was an active force on the field, providing one assist and scoring five of Portland’s 15 goals.

Stat of the Game: 12. The number of turnovers in the third point of the second quarter, which lasted for 6 minutes and 27 seconds.

Quotable: “I feel confident in a lot of things,” said Dogfish player James Yeager. “Sometimes being that close in a game and not being able to close it out can be really frustrating, but I saw a lot of great things out of our team.”
